Hey Heather,
Reading lots of stuff about how the Republicans want us to lower the bar to the ground on what our expectations will be for the Palin/Biden debate. Ugh.
I agree with this writer from Salon.com:
"So here it is, finally. And as unpleasant as it may be to watch the humiliation of a woman who waltzed into a spotlight too strong to withstand, I flat out refuse to be manipulated into another stage of gendered regress -- back to the pre-Pelosi, pre-Hillary days when girls couldn't stand the heat and so were shooed back to the kitchen."

Would you believe...
Hey Heather,
Saw Suzanne Westenhoefer at the local comedy club last night. She was great as always.
I got called over to say hello to some local comedy sisters that I have known for years and who is with them? Paula and her girlfriend. I felt like I had been pulled into the lion's den. I ignore her and her girlfriend and just said hello to the sisters and their husbands. One of the sisters joked "Well you know Paula and Jessica...hahahha". Not funny.
Fortunately, my buddy, Wendy, was with me and Stephanie and immediately shook me out of my funk reminding me how much better off I was. How beautiful and kind Stephanie is. Very very true.
Here's the kicker. Paula's girlfriend was pregnant. Like big, huge, pregnant. I can think of no worse Dad than Paula. What. The. Heck.
My only theory is that she got bored. And I am sure however she got pregnant involved very weird circumstances and a turkey baster. Agree?
Love, Bonnie Lee.

Great night!
Hey Heather,
Went with my buddy, Wendy, to see The Swell Season at the Ryman. They were the musician/stars of the movie "Once". If you haven't seen that, you should check it out. Irish musician falls for Russian pianist.... Great music, great show.
Met prior at Mulligans, Nashville's first pub to have Guinness on tap...their claim to fame. Reminded me of you and Gus when everybody ordered the fish 'n chips, beer soup, sausage, Scotch eggs and I got the house salad. My stomach just can't handle that stuff. But, like a good lady, I did have a pint of Bass.

Music and laughter
Tomorrow night, my buddy, Wendy and I are going to the Ryman Auditorium to see that couple from the movie "Once". Cool.
Then Thursday night, Stephanie and her buddy, Monique are joining Wendy and me to see Suzanne Westenhoefer at the local comedy club.
2 nights out in a row? Unheard of!

I'd give my right arm...
For some gasoline. Believe it or not the mid state of Tennessee had hardly any gasoline. Partially due to the hurricane in Texas, mainly due to the greedy SUV folk filling all the way up and panic. It was lovely. Weird to drive past gas stations and the sign area as empty where it should have said the $$ of gas.
So that was a nice chunk of the weekend....looking for gas. We got Kayla's ashes on Saturday and she is now on our mantle above the fireplace.
We are still in a funk and the economy issues aren't helping ease that.

A little ditty
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier.
I know that the clubs are weapons of war.
I know that diamonds pay money for this art.
But that’s not the shape of my heart.
That’s not the shape of my heart.
Don't you just love Sting?

This ain't New York.
Hey Heather,
I have been trying to look into our bus lines to see if I can commute into work via the bus to save money on gasoline. And, no, this ain't New York.
It would take over an hour to commute, what would be a 18 minute drive each way and cost about $5. But I am investigating further. At the very least, my co-worker, Brian and I could meet and car pool in, alternating weeks. Which is cool and I told him we could fight over the music.
Just like High School!

Help! The sky is falling!
Hey Heather,
Thanks for you recent comment on the heady subject of death. True words, my friend.
I am currently wondering what the heck can be done about this economy and if I can survive it. Things are tough all around and I am getting very very nervous.
I am taking work home at night to get it done as fast as possible so we can bill as quickly as we can.
You know, getting older, freaks me out.

SNL does it right
Check out the link below to watch the mighty Tina Fey do a spot on impression of that woman from Alaska. Brilliant.

A week ago yesterday
Hey Heather,
Saturday was one week to the day that we lost our dog, Kayla, to what appears to have been a tumor growing in her chest. It went so very quickly and we were left with her body and only memories. Stephanie is, of course, hit the hardest as this was her first dog raised from puppy to the 11 years that she reached.
I spent the last week going through my digital library of images, pulling every photo I could of her and printing them at the local Costco for Stephanie. Our dining room table is filled to capacity with her images and it has helped us both to look at her and remember.
I didn't realize how much it would effect me. I have never seen a pet die, let alone a relative, so it was a heady mixture jarring and unbelievable to see her alive and wanting to be with us to lifeless and gone. Not something I will forget any time soon.
Of course, my first thoughts went to my parents and what will inevitably be so so hard when their time comes and then later to when Stephanie and I have to say goodbye. It's almost too much to think about, but then again, we have to.
But the best we can do is to give the time we have to our fullest with those we love, right? Right.
Love, Bonnie Lee
Welcome to Hey Heather
Heather,
I decided to start a blog just for you and me in the hopes of communicating better.
For work, I need to get more involved with the blog world and through learning this stuff, I thought it would be a good way for us to chat.
It allows me to blah blah away and for you to just check in and see what the heck I am yaking about.
So, more to come.
Love, Bonnie Lee
